Welcome to elementary! My name is Ms. Maddie. This will be my fourth year teaching in the field of Special Education. In our classroom, we are lucky to have two wonderful paraprofessionals, Ms. Elizaebeth and Ms. Savannah. Together, we’re committed to creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment where each child can thrive.
Throughout the school year, we will be utilizing an evidence-based program specially designed to support students with autism and related developmental differences through structured, individualized instruction. We will be building foundational skills across key areas including:
- Communication and Language Development (Receptive & Expressive)
- Independency
- Functional academics
- Social Skills and Play
- Behavioral and Emotional Regulation
We use a combination of discrete trial training (DTT), pivotal response training (PRT), functional routines, and sensory exploration to teach and reinforce these important skills. Lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and goals, and data is collected regularly to monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed. Our team works closely with related service providers (such as speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy) to ensure a well-rounded and cohesive learning experience for every child.
